About Derek Keyes
Derek Keyes is the owner and crew chief of Keyes Racing, with over 30 years of professional motorcycle racing experience. He joined Kawasaki in 2006 as a full-time development test rider for their entire production street bike lineup, then became a test rider for the Factory Kawasaki Superbike team in 2007, contributing to the development of the ZX-10R machines used by Jamie Hacking and Roger Hayden.
Derek raced for the Kawasaki Japan R&D team at the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race for three consecutive years (2011-2013). As a crew chief, he helped Andrew Lee win Stock 1000 championships in 2018 and 2019, and led Richie Escalante to the MotoAmerica Supersport championship in 2020. He is currently active with Kawasaki in the Tech Services department.
